GAT-X1022 Blu Duel Gundam

The GAT-X1022 Blu Duel Gundam is a specialized mobile suit introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: STARGAZER OVA series. Developed by Actaeon Industries as part of the “Actaeon Project,” the Blu Duel is an upgraded version of the GAT-X102 Duel Gundam, designed for close-quarters combat and special operations. Unlike the original Duel Gundam, which utilized a detachable Assault Shroud armor, the Blu Duel features integrated armor known as “Fortestra,” which enhances its durability while maintaining its agility. This design allows the Blu Duel to provide superior protection without sacrificing mobility, making it a versatile unit on the battlefield.

Equipped for melee and mid-range combat, the Blu Duel carries two retractable beam guns mounted on its forearms, two beam sabers stored on its legs, and a shield with an M443 “Scorpion” mobile railgun. Additionally, it features head-mounted M2M5 “Todesschrecken” CIWS for close-range defense and Mk315 “Stiletto” rocket-propelled anti-armor penetrators stored in its left shoulder armor. A power extender is integrated into the mobile suit to boost its energy capacity, supporting prolonged combat.

The Blu Duel was piloted by Mudie Holcroft and served as an asset in Phantom Pain’s operations. During a notable battle, Mudie and her unit protected the land battleship Bonaparte from a ZAFT attack. However, the Blu Duel suffered significant damage, losing its right arm and shield to a BuCUE, and eventually fell after its left leg was destroyed. Mudie was killed when the incapacitated mobile suit was attacked by three TMF/A-802W2 Kerberos BuCUE Hounds, who breached its cockpit with their beam fangs. Despite its tragic end, the Blu Duel is remembered for its impressive design and close-combat capabilities.
