RGM-79FP GM Striker

The RGM-79FP GM Striker is a specialized variant of the RGM-79 GM, designed by the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War to excel in close-quarters combat. This mobile suit was developed to address the need for highly maneuverable and powerful units capable of engaging in direct melee combat, as opposed to relying solely on long-range weaponry. The GM Striker features a reinforced frame and an array of advanced combat equipment, making it a formidable opponent in close combat situations.

Standing at 18 meters tall and weighing approximately 50.2 metric tons, the GM Striker is equipped with a Minovsky-type ultracompact fusion reactor, providing the necessary power for its high-performance thrusters. These thrusters allow for enhanced mobility, particularly in ground combat scenarios, making the GM Striker highly agile and able to perform rapid attacks. The armor is made from titanium alloy, ensuring a balance between protection and weight, allowing the suit to maintain speed while still withstanding enemy fire.

The GM Striker’s weaponry is designed for versatility in hand-to-hand and close-quarters combat. It is equipped with one or two beam sabers for quick, cutting strikes, as well as two 60mm vulcan guns mounted in the head for additional fire support. One of the most distinctive features of the GM Striker is its experimental twin beam spear, a pole-arm weapon with two beam sabers mounted at its tip, providing both reach and powerful cutting ability. For defense, the suit can be equipped with a spike shield, which can also be used offensively, and a grapple shield featuring a large claw for close-range combat versatility.

In terms of defense, the GM Striker features reactive armor technology, which absorbs and deflects incoming projectiles. This armor can be ejected when unnecessary to reduce the suit’s overall weight, increasing its agility. Additionally, the suit is equipped with a close combat visor to protect the head-mounted sensors while enhancing the pilot’s situational awareness during engagements.
