ZGMF-1001/M Blaze ZAKU Phantom

The ZGMF-1001/M Blaze ZAKU Phantom is a specialized variant of the ZAKU Phantom, introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. Developed by ZAFT as part of their New Millennium Series, the Blaze ZAKU Phantom was created to enhance the mobile suit’s combat capabilities with the addition of the EX-M Blaze Wizard pack. This upgrade provides the suit with enhanced thrusters for greater mobility, as well as increased firepower and more advanced weapon systems. The Blaze ZAKU Phantom is designed to operate effectively in both space and atmospheric environments, thanks to its added propulsion systems and advanced weaponry.

Standing at 17.3 meters tall and weighing 73.1 metric tons, the Blaze ZAKU Phantom retains much of the ZAKU Phantom’s original design but is further strengthened by the Blaze Wizard system. The suit is powered by an ultracompact energy battery, and its armor is reinforced with titanium alloy and anti-beam coatings to withstand high-intensity combat. It is equipped with an advanced sensor suite that extends the range of its radar and tracking systems, allowing for precise targeting during long-range engagements.

The Blaze ZAKU Phantom’s armament includes a MA-M8 Beam Tomahawk, which can be used for powerful melee attacks, and an MMI-M633 Beam Assault Rifle for rapid-fire beam weaponry. For additional ranged support, the mobile suit carries AGM138 “Firebee” Guided Missiles and M66 “Canus” Short-Range Guided Missile Launchers, offering a versatile arsenal for various combat situations. The suit is also equipped with anti-beam shields on both shoulders, which feature three spikes for melee combat, as well as hand grenades for close-range defensive tactics.

The Blaze ZAKU Phantom was used by several notable characters, including Rey Za Burrel and Heine Westenfluss. Rey’s custom unit featured a distinctive white color scheme, while Heine’s version was marked with an orange hue. The suit played a pivotal role during the Second Alliance-PLANT War, where its enhanced mobility and powerful weapon systems made it a formidable opponent. Its versatility in both close-quarters and long-range combat, combined with its modular design, allowed it to serve as an essential asset to ZAFT’s forces in their efforts against the Earth Alliance. The Blaze ZAKU Phantom’s combination of speed, firepower, and flexibility in combat cemented its place as one of the most reliable mobile suits in the Gundam SEED Destiny universe.
