Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative

Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative (機動戦士ガンダムNT, Kidō Senshi Gandamu NT) is a 2018 Japanese animated mecha film set in the Universal Century timeline of the Gundam franchise. Serving as a sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, it takes place in UC 0097, one year after the events of the Laplace Incident, which exposed the rights of Newtypes. The film follows Jona Basta, Michele Luio, and Rita Bernal, three childhood friends known as the “Miracle Children,” who are drawn into a conflict over the mysterious RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex, a golden mobile suit with advanced psycho-frame technology.

As Jona pilots the new RX-9 Narrative Gundam, the pursuit of the Phenex triggers a larger battle involving various factions, each seeking to harness its power. Themes of identity, loss, and Newtype abilities are explored throughout the narrative, while the film delves into the complex relationships between the characters and the larger forces at play in the post-Laplace world. While Gundam Narrative received mixed reviews, it was praised for its connection to Gundam Unicorn and its philosophical depth, though some criticized its character development and animation. The film remains a significant entry in the Gundam franchise, adding layers to the Universal Century storyline.
