Masahiko Asano
Masahiko Asano (あさのまさひこ) is a Japanese editor, writer, and producer rooted in the plastic-model and mecha fandom scene. Best known for his work at *Model Graphix*, he helped shape landmark editorial projects that blended model building with in-universe storytelling—most famously the “photo-novel” style that made Gundam side stories feel like living military archives rather than simple magazine features. In that role he coordinated designers, writers, and builders, steered visual direction, and turned workshop prototypes into cohesive narratives that fans could follow month to month.
Beyond magazine work, Asano has been active as a curator and producer for model-culture events and special features, championing garage-kit talent and giving builders a stage where design craft and storytelling meet. His career sits at the junction of editorial vision and hands-on hobby culture: part producer, part critic, part community organizer—someone who connected creators, guided projects from sketch to spread, and helped define how late-’80s and ’90s mecha concepts were presented to fans.
