AMX-004 Qubeley
The AMX-004 Qubeley is a prototype mobile suit developed by Axis Zeon during the late Universal Century 0080s, designed primarily for Newtype pilots. It was most famously piloted by Haman Karn, leader of Axis, in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. One of the most striking features of the Qubeley is its use of a miniaturized psycommu system, which allows the pilot to control remote weaponry known as “funnels” using only thought. This system gives the Qubeley a significant advantage in combat, allowing for highly coordinated, long-range attacks.
The Qubeley’s design features four movable wing binders on its shoulders, which improve its mobility through Active Mass Balance Auto Control (AMBAC). For armament, the Qubeley is equipped with dual-purpose beam guns, which can also function as beam sabers for close combat. It also carries a pair of large beam sabers stored in its shoulder binders for additional melee capabilities, along with ten funnels housed in the tail binder for remote operations via the psycommu system.
The Qubeley made its debut in the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam anime series and became one of the iconic mobile suits of the era, with Haman Karn using it to take on some of the most advanced mobile suits of the time. The success of the Qubeley led to subsequent variants, such as the AMX-004G Qubeley Mass Production Type and the AMX-004-2 Qubeley Mk-II. Overall, the AMX-004 Qubeley remains a symbol of Axis Zeon’s dedication to combining Newtype abilities with advanced mobile suit technology.
