MSA-005 Methuss

The MSA-005 Methuss is a prototype transformable mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics for the AEUG during the Gryps War in UC 0087. It was designed to test transformation mechanisms that would later be used in the development of the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam. Serving as one of AEUG’s first transformable units, the Methuss was primarily operated by the flagship Argama, with notable pilots like Reccoa Londe and Fa Yuiry. While it was an experimental model, the Methuss proved reliable in combat, with its design allowing for quick repairs after taking damage.

In its mobile suit (MS) mode, the Methuss stands 26 meters tall and is equipped with two forearm-mounted beam guns and six beam sabers stored in its legs, providing both ranged and melee combat capabilities. However, the MS mode has limitations, including exposed frame areas and lighter armor, which made it vulnerable in close-quarters combat. In its mobile armor (MA) mode, the Methuss transforms into a high-speed space fighter, excelling in agility and defensive capabilities, ideal for dogfighting and long-range engagements. Despite its limited production, the Methuss’ legacy influenced later mobile suit developments, such as the Guncannon Detector and the ZII, and its transformation technology played a key role in advancing mobile suit designs within the Universal Century timeline.
