Hidetaka Tenjin
Hidetaka Tenjin (天神 英貴), born on October 13, 1973, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, is a celebrated mecha anime artist, science fiction illustrator, and voice actor. He graduated from the Shibaura Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical control systems, which informs the hyper-realistic detail in his mechanical designs.
Tenjin is best known for his extensive contributions to the Macross franchise, where he has provided mechanical art, image boards, and iconic box art for various model kits and media. His career as a professional illustrator began after his personal website caught the attention of Macross creator Shoji Kawamori. Beyond Macross, he has worked on major franchises such as Gundam, Star Wars, and Space Battleship Yamato, producing acclaimed box art for manufacturers like Hasegawa, Bandai Spirits, and Good Smile Company. His credits in the anime industry include mechanical design and art for titles such as Macross Zero, Genesis of Aquarion, Hellsing, and Yasuke.
In addition to his visual work, Tenjin is an accomplished voice actor and narrator, with roles in anime series like Hunter x Hunter, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Knights & Magic. He also provides Japanese dubbing for international productions, notably voicing Ryder Azadi in Star Wars: Rebels and Ahsoka. His career and influence were recognized in 2022 when he received the prestigious Inkpot Award from Comic-Con International.
