RGM-79HC GM Guard Custom

The RGM-79HC GM Guard Custom is a defensive Federation mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin MSD. It is derived from the RGM-79 GM line but fitted for guard and protection duties rather than ordinary frontline deployment.

Its most recognisable equipment is the large Guardian Shield, which dominates the silhouette and gives the machine a “shield wall” role. The unit is also associated with close-defence weapons such as beam daggers and machine-gun equipment depending on depiction. Compared with a standard GM, the GM Guard Custom has a more specialised battlefield purpose: escort, position defence, protection of key assets and holding a defensive line.

The GM Guard Custom sits alongside other MSD GM variants such as the GM Cannon and GM Sniper Custom-style machines. Together they show how the Federation’s basic mass-production frame could be adapted into specialist roles after the rapid development of the V Project and the original RGM-79 series.
