RGM-79S GM Spartan (RG)

The RGM-79S GM Spartan is an Earth Federation special-operations mobile suit from the Universal Century side-story material. It is a variant of the RGM-79 GM family configured for ground warfare, close-quarters combat and stealth-oriented missions.

The GM Spartan has darker tactical colours, reinforced armour, a visor-like head section and equipment better suited to field operations than the standard RGM-79 GM. It is commonly associated with jungle or special-forces style deployment, using weapons such as machine guns, beam sabres, knives, shields and short-range combat gear depending on depiction. The “RG” in the spreadsheet name appears to be a model/release label rather than part of the in-universe designation.

The design shows one of the more aggressive Federation GM branches: not a simple mass-production unit, not a sniper, and not a cannon platform, but a compact tactical machine for specialised ground combat. It fits alongside other GM variants that reinterpret the basic GM frame for specific battlefield roles.
