RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1m FA-78NT-1 Full Armor Alex

The RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1, commonly called Alex, is the Earth Federation’s Newtype-use prototype from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. It was developed under the G-4 Project and intended for Amuro Ray, but it remained at Side 6 for testing and was never delivered to White Base.

Christina Mackenzie serves as the test pilot during the Side 6 events. The NT-1 is tuned for extremely fast response, using magnetic coating and a 360-degree panoramic cockpit / linear seat system to match the reflexes expected of a Newtype pilot. Its equipment includes built-in 90mm Gatling guns in the forearms, beam rifle, beam sabres, shield and head vulcans. The Chobham armour configuration adds detachable external armour, creating the FA-78NT-1 Full Armor Alex form.

The NT-1 is central to the Cyclops Team operation, where Zeon pilots including Bernie Wiseman attempt to destroy the prototype before it can be deployed. The machine’s story is closely tied to Christina, Bernie and Alfred Izuruha rather than to Amuro himself.
