RX-80RR Red Rider
The RX-80RR Red Rider (レッドライダー) is a prototype mobile suit developed as part of the Pale Rider Project, specifically designed to test equipment for aggressive close-combat and raw speed. Based on the RX-80 frame, it features a distinctive silhouette with sharp proportions and a bold, vivid red armor scheme. The design incorporates unique armor on the head, chest, and legs, along with updated shoulder joints that allow for a wide range of forward motion to support dynamic melee posing.
The machine is equipped with the ARES system (also referred to as AREUS), which, when activated, releases all performance limiters for five minutes, often indicated by a change in the visor’s appearance. To protect the pilot during this high-strain state, it includes the Rymm-va system, designed to provide defibrillation if necessary. Its primary armament is the Zweihander, a massive beam sword that can be converted into a shield form or attached to the arm. Additional equipment includes a prototype 100mm machine gun with a built-in heat sword, a standard 100mm machine gun, beam sabers, and a ground-type shield.
