Slowpoke (ヤドン) is a Dopey Pokémon known for its slow nature and dim-witted demeanor. Its name is derived from a combination of the English words “slow” and “slowpoke”. This pink, quadrupedal creature has a long tail with a sweet, sappy substance that it uses as a lure for fishing. These tails are considered a delicacy in regions like Alola and Galar, where they are used in stews and curries, and they can naturally regrow if broken off.

The character is a popular figure in Japanese culture, serving as the official ambassador Pokémon for Kagawa Prefecture due to a pun on its Japanese name and “udon” noodles. It is also celebrated annually on August 10, known as Slowpoke Day. While often mocked for its sluggishness, Slowpoke has been described as a relatable and charming character by fans. In the Galar region, the species has a unique form resulting from the consumption of Galarica seeds. Slowpoke is prominently featured across various media, including the “Slowpoke Song” and numerous appearances in the Pokémon anime under the ownership of characters like Goh and Professor Westwood V.
