Koichi Tokita
Koichi Tokita (ときた 洸一), born on April 11, 1961, in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, is a manga artist and illustrator primarily known for his extensive work on various Mobile Suit Gundam series. Before becoming a full-time manga artist, Tokita worked for Bandai, where he was involved in packaging design, including box art for Gundam plastic models (Gunpla) and Namco video game covers. He also collaborated with members of the Craft团 group, known for popular SD Gundam titles like Plamo-Kyoshiro.
In his manga career, Tokita became a dedicated artist for Gundam titles published by Kadokawa Shoten. He is particularly well-regarded for his work on the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray series and several Mobile Suit Gundam 00 manga adaptations. His style often bridges the gap between mechanical design and narrative illustration, solidifying his role as a key contributor to the Gundam franchise across multiple media.
