MS-06S Char’s Zaku

The MS-06S Char’s Zaku II is Char Aznable’s customised commander-type Zaku from Mobile Suit Gundam. It is based on the MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type, a higher-performance variant of the mass-production MS-06 Zaku II assigned to squad leaders and ace pilots.

The S type differs from the standard Zaku II through improved reactor output and higher thrust, with later official descriptions treating its speed as roughly one-third faster than a normal Zaku rather than literally three times faster. Char’s unit is painted in his red and pink personal colours and fitted with the commander antenna, creating the visual identity that made him known as the Red Comet.

Typical Zaku II weapons include a 120mm Zaku machine gun, 280mm Zaku bazooka, heat hawk, optional leg missile launchers and cracker grenades. Char used his customised Zaku during the early One Year War and in the first battles against Amuro Ray’s RX-78-2 Gundam, establishing one of the most famous pilot-machine pairings in the Universal Century.
