RGC-80S GM Cannon Space Assault Type

The RGC-80S GM Cannon Space Assault Type is a Federation mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin MSD mechanical line. It is a space-combat adaptation of the GM Cannon concept, combining the GM family’s mass-production frame with heavier support fire equipment.

The base RGC-80 GM Cannon concept is a cannon-equipped GM used for fire support rather than pure general-purpose combat. The Space Assault Type moves that idea into zero-gravity operations, where shoulder-mounted cannon fire, thruster layout and formation support are more relevant than ground artillery positioning. It belongs to the Origin MSD family of expanded One Year War designs, which fills in development links between early Federation prototypes and later GM variants.

The unit’s role is closer to a support and assault machine than a standard RGM-79 GM. It gives Federation forces a GM-derived suit that can provide suppressive cannon fire while operating with other mobile suits in space engagements.
