Tickbalang

The Tickbalang is a flight system featured in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, developed by Peil Technologies. Designed to transport mobile suits over long distances, it is capable of carrying two mobile suits simultaneously—one mounted on top and another suspended beneath. The Tickbalang is equipped with six vectored nozzles for propulsion, allowing it to fly efficiently, and features a wireless beam cannon located at its nose, which can be operated remotely by the mobile suits it carries. In the anime, it plays a key role in transporting mobile suits like the Zowort during various operations, prominently featured in episodes 4, 15, 18, and 19. The Tickbalang’s design includes a flatbed with grips and footrests, ensuring secure attachment for the mobile suits, while additional handles beneath provide further attachment options. The name “Tickbalang” is derived from a creature in Filipino folklore known for misleading travelers, a fitting metaphor for the transport system’s role in the series. The Tickbalang also saw a model kit release in 2023, offering fans the opportunity to build and display it alongside other mobile suits from The Witch from Mercury.
