Batman Begins

Batman Begins is the 2005 superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan and the first entry in The Dark Knight Trilogy. The film reboots Batman’s origin story, following Bruce Wayne from the murder of his parents through his training with the League of Shadows and his return to Gotham City as Batman.

The story focuses on fear, justice and the creation of a symbol larger than Bruce himself. Christian Bale plays Bruce Wayne / Batman, with key characters including Alfred Pennyworth, Lucius Fox, Jim Gordon, Rachel Dawes, Ra’s al Ghul, Scarecrow and Carmine Falcone. The film is especially important for its grounded interpretation of Batman’s equipment, including the Tumbler Batmobile, practical armour and a more realistic crime-ridden Gotham.
