Kojima Productions

Kojima Productions is a Japanese video game development studio founded in December 2015 by the legendary game designer Hideo Kojima. The studio was established after Kojima’s departure from Konami, where he had originally founded Kojima Productions in 2005. This new, independent version of Kojima Productions focuses on creating innovative, narrative-driven games that push the boundaries of interactive entertainment.

Headquartered in Tokyo, the studio is known for its creative philosophy, symbolized by its mascot, Ludens, representing the human drive for exploration and creativity. The studio’s first major release was Death Stranding, a highly praised game that debuted in 2019. Known for its unique gameplay and deep storytelling, Death Stranding was a significant success, and its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, was released in 2025, continuing the post-apocalyptic narrative.

Kojima Productions has also expanded into other forms of media, including film and television. The studio is working on a Death Stranding film, co-produced with Hammerstone Studios and A24, further extending the reach of its creative works. Additionally, the studio is developing a horror game called OD, in collaboration with Jordan Peele and published by Xbox Game Studios, which promises to explore new gameplay mechanics related to fear.

With its commitment to innovation, Kojima Productions continues to make a significant impact on the gaming and entertainment industries, constantly pushing the boundaries of what interactive media can achieve.
