Mashin Hero Wataru
Mashin Hero Wataru (魔神英雄伝ワタル) is a mecha multimedia franchise created by Sunrise and Red Company that debuted as a TV series on April 15, 1988. The story follows Wataru Ikusabe, a spirited fourth-grade boy who is transported to the magical world of Soukaizan (創界山) after a clay robot he created, named Ryujinmaru (龍神丸), comes to life. As the destined savior, Wataru must liberate the seven levels of Soukaizan from the evil ruler Doorakudar (ドアクダー), who has stolen the world’s protective rainbows and the “good hearts” of its people. Accompanied by the ninja master Himiko Shinobibe (忍部ヒミコ) and the swordsman Shibaraku Tsurugibe (剣部シバラク), Wataru battles using Ryujinmaru, a sentient mecha known as a Mashin. The franchise is known for its blend of mecha action, comedy, and themes inspired by Japanese and Chinese mythology, spanning multiple television sequels like Mashin Hero Wataru 2 and Cho Mashin Hero Wataru, as well as radio dramas, original video animations, and a wide range of merchandise.
