Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story: The Blue Destiny (機動戦士ガンダム外伝 THE BLUE DESTINY) is a Universal Century series that originated as a trilogy of video games for the Sega Saturn. Set during the One Year War in U.C. 0079, the story follows Earth Federation pilot Yuu Kajima as he encounters the Blue Destiny units, which are experimental mobile suits based on the Ground Type Gundam frame. These units are equipped with the EXAM System, a mysterious technology developed at a Zeon Newtype research facility that allows normal pilots to achieve Newtype-like combat performance. The narrative focuses on the conflict surrounding this system and has been adapted into multiple manga series. A modern remake of the story is featured in the PlayStation 3 game Mobile Suit Gundam Side Stories.
