The Batman

The Batman is the 2022 film directed by Matt Reeves, presenting a younger Bruce Wayne in his second year as Gotham City’s vigilante. Robert Pattinson plays Batman, with Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The film leans heavily into Batman’s detective identity, following a murder investigation that exposes corruption across Gotham’s political and criminal institutions. Its tone is dark, noir-influenced and psychological, with a rawer Batman, a muscle-car Batmobile and a Gotham that feels decayed, rain-soaked and dangerous. The story explores vengeance, justice and Bruce’s gradual realisation that Batman must become more than a symbol of fear.
