After around 300 days of running Modelverse, we looked at something quite interesting: where our customers are based across the UK.
Using the postcode areas from our customers’ shipping addresses, we created a simple map showing the spread of Modelverse builders. To our surprise, we have already reached customers across most areas of the UK.
For a small specialist hobby shop that started from Camberley, Surrey, this is something we are genuinely grateful for.
Modelverse builders across the UK
The first map shows the number of Modelverse customers by postcode area.

Some areas naturally stand out more strongly, including:
Manchester, Guildford, London, Reading, Nottingham, Bristol, Birmingham and Newcastle.
It is great to see orders coming from so many different parts of the country. Although Modelverse is based in Surrey, the hobby community we serve is clearly much wider than our local area.
From Scotland to Northern Ireland, from Wales to the South Coast, and from major cities to smaller towns, we are very happy to see more builders discovering Gunpla, mecha model kits and character model kits through Modelverse.
Looking beyond population size
Of course, areas with larger populations will usually have more customers. London, Manchester and Birmingham naturally have more people, so it is not surprising to see stronger customer numbers there.
To get another view, we also compared our customer distribution with the population of each postcode area. This allowed us to look at Modelverse customers per 100,000 population.

This second map gives a slightly different picture. After adjusting for population size, Reading and Guildford appear especially strong.
As Modelverse was established in Camberley, this is very interesting to us. Camberley sits close to Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire, so the result may suggest that Modelverse has been especially welcomed by builders in our nearby region.
Perhaps local builders feel more connected to a specialist shop based near them. Perhaps word of mouth has helped. Or perhaps the Surrey, Reading and nearby areas simply have more Gunpla, mecha and character model kit fans than we expected.
Either way, we are very thankful for the support.
A small shop with a national community
The two maps tell slightly different stories.
The first map shows where we currently have more customers in total. Larger cities and population centres are naturally important here.
The second map shows where Modelverse has a stronger relative presence after adjusting for population size. This makes Reading and Guildford particularly interesting.
Together, they show something encouraging: Modelverse is still a young shop, but our community is already spread widely across the UK.
For us, this is one of the most enjoyable parts of running a specialist hobby shop. Every order is not just a parcel leaving the warehouse. It is a kit going to someone’s desk, shelf, backlog, weekend project, custom build, or first step into the hobby.
Thank you for the first 300 days
When we started Modelverse, our aim was simple: to help more UK builders enjoy Gunpla, mecha model kits and character model kits.
After 300 days, seeing our customer map spread across most of the UK is both surprising and encouraging.
To our nearby builders in Camberley, Guildford, Reading, Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire — thank you for supporting a local specialist shop.
To builders in Manchester, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol, Newcastle, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and everywhere else — thank you for helping Modelverse grow beyond our local area.
We hope to continue bringing more interesting kits, better selections and more hobby inspiration to UK builders.
Wherever you are building, thank you for being part of our first 300 days.
