Yasuhiro Moriki
Yasuhiro Moriki (森木 靖泰), born on September 25, 1963, in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, is a prominent mechanical designer, character designer, illustrator, and manga artist. Since his professional debut in the mid-1980s, he has specialized in designing robots and heroes for the anime, video game, and tokusatsu industries.
Moriki is perhaps most widely recognized for his foundational work on the novel series Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash (1989), where he created the original mechanical designs for iconic mobile suits like the Ξ (Xi) Gundam and the Penelope. His designs are noted for their unique, almost “kaiju-like” silhouettes and high levels of detail, which have remained influential in the Gundam franchise for decades. His contributions to the series have extended to Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE and Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Fastest Formula.
