MS-07B Gouf
The MS-07B Gouf is a close-quarters combat mobile suit developed by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War in the Universal Century timeline of Mobile Suit Gundam. It was introduced in UC 0079 as an enhancement to the earlier Zaku II, specifically designed for superior ground combat performance. Standing at 18.7 meters tall and weighing 75.4 metric tons when fully equipped, the Gouf was equipped with advanced features, including a powerful fusion reactor producing 1,034 kW of power and a high-tension steel alloy armor that provided better protection. Its mobility was enhanced by four main thrusters, allowing it to achieve speeds of up to 99 km/h on the ground and providing a total thrust of 40,700 kg.
The Gouf’s armament was tailored for close-range combat and versatility. Its primary weapons included a 75mm machine gun mounted on the left hand and a heat rod, which could be used for electric shocks or as a grappling tool. The Gouf also featured a range of optional weapons, including a heat sword (an upgraded version of the Zaku’s heat hawk), a gatling shield equipped with a built-in gatling gun for rapid-fire suppression, and a 3-tube missile launcher mounted on the shoulder. Additionally, it could carry a variety of other weapons, such as the Zaku bazooka, a shotgun, or a 120mm machine gun, depending on mission requirements.
The MS-07B Gouf was famously piloted by the Zeon ace pilot Ramba Ral, who used it to battle the RX-78-2 Gundam in one of the series’ most memorable engagements. Its combination of speed, firepower, and versatile weaponry made it a formidable opponent on the battlefield. The Gouf’s design and armament represented a significant advancement in Zeon’s mobile suit technology during the One Year War and remains an iconic machine in the Gundam franchise.
