MSN-001A1 Delta Plus

The MSN-001A1 Delta Plus is a transformable mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, developed by the Earth Federation Forces as a refinement of earlier prototype designs. It is a direct descendant of the MSN-001 Delta Gundam concept, which could not be realized in its time due to technological limits, and is closely related to Anaheim Electronics’ MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki. By incorporating advancements made since the Gryps War, the Delta Plus achieves what its predecessors could not: a fully functional transformable frame.

The suit’s standout feature is its ability to shift between mobile suit mode and wave rider mode. In wave rider form, the Delta Plus functions as a high-speed fighter, granting it excellent mobility for atmospheric entry, fast redeployment, and surprise attacks. The transformation is smooth and stable, addressing the structural weaknesses that prevented earlier attempts like the Delta Gundam from entering production.

In terms of armament, the Delta Plus carries a beam rifle, a pair of beam sabers, and a shield equipped with a built-in beam cannon and grenade launchers. This balanced loadout allows it to engage effectively in both ranged and close-quarters combat. Combined with its high maneuverability and transformation ability, it excels in hit-and-run tactics and versatile battlefield roles.

In Gundam Unicorn, the Delta Plus is piloted by Riddhe Marcenas. Under his control, it plays a key supporting role in several major battles, often acting as both a fast-response unit and a foil to more powerful Gundams like the Unicorn itself. Its design, sleek performance, and lineage from the Hyaku Shiki make the Delta Plus a fan-favorite, embodying Anaheim’s pursuit of combining elegance, mobility, and firepower in a single advanced mobile suit.
