RX-78-01 Gundam

RX-78-01 Gundam is the prototype stage of the original Gundam development line from the One Year War era. It represents an early form of the Federation’s RX-78 project before the better-known RX-78-2 Gundam became the iconic unit piloted by Amuro Ray.

The RX-78-01 keeps the core Gundam concept of a high-performance prototype mobile suit, using advanced Federation technology, beam weapon compatibility and a humanoid frame far beyond ordinary mass-production machines of its time. Depending on the version, it may be presented as the Prototype Gundam or an early test configuration in MSV and related material. For builders, it provides a direct look at the origin of the Gundam lineage before the classic RX-78-2 form was finalised.
