Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid (メタルギアソリッド) is the stealth action game series created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami. The 1998 PlayStation game Metal Gear Solid brought the earlier Metal Gear ideas into 3D, following Solid Snake as he infiltrates Shadow Moses Island to stop the rogue FOXHOUND unit and the nuclear-equipped bipedal weapon Metal Gear REX.

The series is known for tactical espionage action, cinematic storytelling, political and military themes, and complex characters such as Solid Snake, Big Boss, Revolver Ocelot, Otacon, Liquid Snake and The Boss. Across the wider franchise, Metal Gear Solid explores nuclear deterrence, soldiers’ identities, information control, genetic legacy and the human cost of endless warfare.
