From the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray series, mercenary Gai Murakumo’s MBF-P03secondL Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L joins the HG GUNDAM SEED line as #57. Developed after the original Blue Frame was badly damaged in combat, Second L combines Gai’s planned upgrades to the shoulders and feet with replacement equipment developed by Lowe Guele, most notably its redesigned head and enormous multifunction Tactical Arms system.
The Tactical Arms is the centrepiece of this 1/144 kit and can be reconfigured into three distinct forms. In Flight Form it mounts on the back as a high-mobility propulsion unit; Sword Form turns the entire assembly into a huge hand-held blade; and Gatling Form deploys the built-in multi-barrel gun for sustained ranged fire. Bandai includes a dedicated support stand to help stabilise the heavy backpack and oversized weapon, allowing the dramatic Sword Form to be displayed even in one-handed poses.
This 2013 release is not a simple variation of the older HG Astray tooling: the Blue Frame Second L was newly engineered with updated proportions, strong articulation and improved colour separation. Two hand-held Armor Schneider combat knives are included, while additional blades integrated into the feet can be deployed for the close-combat kicking attacks associated with Gai’s fighting style. Foil stickers and marking stickers complete the machine-specific colour and surface details.
