Description

DSPIAE SS Sponge Sandpaper is a colour-coded sponge-backed sanding pad series designed for model making—great for nub cleanup, seam smoothing, surface prep, and final finishing on plastic kits, resin parts, and photo-etch. The soft, flexible backing makes it especially useful on curved surfaces and edges where rigid files can be too aggressive.

Soft, flexible foam backing (comfortable control)

The sanding pad uses a soft EVA / memory-foam style backing that’s easy to hold, conforms to shapes, and rebounds back to its original form after use—helping it stay comfortable and consistent over time.

Easy to identify (colour-coded + labelled)

Each grit is colour-coded and the grit is clearly marked on the back, so it’s easy to grab the right pad quickly during sanding progression.

Multiple thickness options

Different thicknesses let you choose between more flexibility (thinner) or more cushioning/control (thicker), depending on the surface and the job: 2mm / 3mm / 5mm.

Grit range (SS series)

Common SS sponge sandpaper grits cover a wide progression from shaping to fine finishing:

  • #180, #280, #400, #600, #800

  • #1000, #1200, #1500, #2000, #2500

Specifications

  • Pad size: 72 × 20 mm

  • Thickness options: 2mm / 3mm / 5mm

  • Material: soft flexible foam backing (EVA-type), abrasive surface

  • Can be cut to your desired size for small parts or tight areas

Tips for use

  • Start with a lower grit to remove marks, then step up through finer grits for a smoother finish.

  • Use light pressure and let the abrasive do the work—this helps avoid flat spots on rounded details.

  • A slightly damp sanding pad can help control dust and improve sanding feel (especially on finer grits).
