HG 1/144 RGM-79 GM (Shoulder Cannon / Missile Pod) brings the Earth Federation’s classic mass-production mobile suit to the modern Gundam The Origin / Mobile Suit Gundam MSD High Grade format. Rather than locking the builder into one loadout, this release can be assembled in three distinct configurations: standard GM, Shoulder Cannon equipped, or Missile Pod equipped, with the shoulder equipment changed by swapping parts.
The kit uses Bandai’s newer Origin-style GM body with strong articulation through the elbows, knees and hips, making kneeling, firing and two-handed weapon poses much easier than on older GM kits. Both the Shoulder Cannon and newly tooled Missile Pod are movable once fitted, while the rear skirt provides storage points for the Beam Rifle, Hyper Bazooka or Beam Saber rack. Three pairs of hands are included—standard holding hands, gun-holding hands and open hands—so the model can make full use of its unusually large arsenal.
Weapons include an early-type Beam Rifle, two different Beam Spray Guns, Hyper Bazooka, shield and two Beam Sabers in addition to the shoulder equipment. Hajime Katoki-designed original marking stickers are also supplied, giving builders the option to add the dense unit markings associated with the MSD / Origin aesthetic.
