Kaleido ColorWorks Primers are water-based airbrush primers designed to prepare model surfaces for painting while providing strong coverage, good adhesion and a smooth, consistent base.
Formulated with 1200-grit fine fillers, the standard primers can help fill fine scratches left after sanding with 800-grit abrasives or finer. This helps unify the surface before colour application while preserving small moulded and engraved details.
The primers provide strong opacity, helping create an even base colour without requiring excessive layers. Once dry, the surface provides a reliable foundation for subsequent paint coats and can be sanded where further surface preparation is required.
Kaleido primers are factory pre-thinned for airbrushing and can normally be sprayed directly from the bottle using a 0.3 mm airbrush or larger at approximately 10 PSI or above. Powered by Kaleido’s RapidAir™ formulation, they are designed to spray smoothly while reducing common water-based paint issues such as beading, sagging and uneven coverage.
The range includes White, Gray and Black primers, allowing the base tone to be selected according to the final colour scheme. A dedicated Gloss Black Primer is also available, formulated to produce a smooth, reflective foundation particularly suited to metallic and chrome finishes.
With their water-based, solvent-free formulation and convenient ready-to-spray consistency, Kaleido primers are well suited to Gunpla, mecha, scale models, miniatures and other hobby projects.

Usage Guide
- Shake or thoroughly mix before use.
- Spray directly from the bottle for standard applications.
- Recommended for 0.3–0.5 mm airbrushes at approximately 10 PSI or above.
- Apply in controlled, even coats rather than one excessively heavy layer.
- Allow approximately 15–20 minutes for the surface to dry under normal conditions.
- Allow the primer to cure adequately before sanding, masking or applying subsequent paint layers.
- For metallic and chrome finishes, use Gloss Black Primer where a smooth reflective base is required.
