Description

Kaleido ColorWorks Mecha Colours are high-performance water-based acrylic paints developed specifically for Gunpla, mecha and sci-fi model kits.

The range features carefully tuned colours inspired by the distinctive armour, frame and accent tones commonly found across mecha designs. From clean whites and vivid primary armour colours to military greens, deep reds, purples and mechanical greys, Mecha Colours make it easier to reproduce familiar colour schemes or create completely original custom builds.

Powered by Kaleido’s RapidAir™ Technology, the paint applies in a smooth, even layer with strong coverage while reducing common issues associated with water-based airbrush paints such as beading, sagging and uneven spraying.

Nano-level pigment dispersion produces a fine, smooth paint film that preserves surface detail while providing strong colour density. Gloss and satin finishes are designed to create a clean surface suitable for panel lining, waterslide decals and subsequent clear coats, reducing the need for an additional gloss layer before detailing in many applications.

The 20 ml paints are factory pre-thinned and can normally be sprayed directly from the bottle. They are formulated for airbrushes with a 0.3 mm nozzle or larger at approximately 10 PSI or above, making them convenient for both complete recolours and smaller detail work.

Once cured, the durable paint film offers good resistance to handling, masking and abrasion — particularly useful for articulated model kits that will be assembled, posed and handled after painting.

Whether recreating an established mecha colour scheme or developing your own design, Kaleido Mecha Colours provide a versatile palette specifically tailored to modern model-kit painting.

Usage Guide

  • Shake or thoroughly mix the paint before use, as pigment settling during storage is normal.
  • For standard airbrushing, use directly from the bottle with a 0.3–0.5 mm airbrush.
  • Recommended working pressure is approximately 10 PSI or higher.
  • Apply controlled, even coats rather than attempting full coverage in one heavy pass.
  • Allow approximately 15–20 minutes for the surface to dry under normal conditions.
  • Gloss and satin surfaces can be used as a smooth foundation for panel lining, waterslide decals and clear coating.
  • Additional thinner may be used where lower viscosity is required for fine shading or specific airbrush techniques.
