Kaleido ColorWorks Metal Colours are high-performance water-based acrylic paints developed to reproduce the appearance and depth of real metallic surfaces.
Rather than relying on a simple metallic effect, the range uses micron-level metallic particles designed to align evenly as the paint is sprayed. This creates a fine, intricate metallic texture with convincing depth and light reflection, making the colours particularly effective for mechanical components, armour, weapons, engines, exhausts and other exposed metal details.
The range covers 12 carefully selected metallic shades, from dark Zirconium Black and Gun Metal through steel, titanium and aluminium tones to copper and multiple gold finishes. This makes it possible to differentiate materials across a model rather than relying on a single generic silver or metallic colour.
Powered by Kaleido’s RapidAir™ Technology, the paint is formulated for smooth, fast airbrush application with reduced beading, sagging and uneven coverage. The 20 ml paints are factory pre-thinned and can normally be sprayed directly from the bottle using an airbrush with a 0.3 mm nozzle or larger at approximately 10 PSI or above.
The water-based, solvent-free formulation also produces significantly less odour than conventional lacquer metallic paints, making it particularly convenient for indoor hobby workspaces.
Ideal for Gunpla, mecha, scale models, automotive subjects and miniatures, the Metal Colours range offers an easy way to add realistic material contrast and premium metallic finishes to a build.

Usage Guide
- Shake or thoroughly mix before use, as metallic particles will naturally settle during storage.
- For standard airbrushing, the paint can normally be used directly from the bottle.
- Recommended for 0.3 mm or larger airbrushes at approximately 10 PSI or above.
- Build the metallic finish using controlled, even coats for consistent particle alignment.
- Different base colours can be used beneath the metallic layer to alter the final depth and tone.
- Clean the airbrush thoroughly after use to prevent metallic particles remaining in the paint path.
