Description

Kaleido ColorWorks Primary Colours are high-performance water-based acrylic paints developed for model building and airbrush painting. Covering a versatile selection of essential colours, the range provides a foundation for everything from straightforward colour application to custom mixing, gradients, highlights and more complex colour schemes.

Powered by Kaleido’s RapidAir™ Technology, the paint is formulated to lay down in a smooth, even layer while reducing common issues associated with water-based airbrush paints such as beading, sagging and uneven coverage. Nano-level pigment dispersion provides strong colour saturation and coverage, including when applying lighter colours over darker surfaces.

The 20 ml paints are factory pre-thinned and can normally be sprayed directly from the bottle. They are formulated for airbrushes with a 0.3 mm nozzle or larger, making preparation quicker and helping maintain consistent results between painting sessions. Additional thinning can still be used where a particular technique or lower-pressure application requires it.

Gloss colours form a smooth, high-gloss surface that provides a useful foundation for decals, panel lining and subsequent clear coats, while selected matt colours provide alternative finishes for different subjects and painting styles.

Once cured, the paint forms a durable, scratch-resistant film designed to withstand handling, masking and movement of articulated model kits. The water-based, solvent-free formulation also produces significantly less odour than conventional solvent-based hobby paints, making it particularly convenient for indoor hobby workspaces.

Suitable for Gunpla, mecha, scale models, miniatures and a wide variety of other hobby projects, the Primary Colours range is an excellent starting point for building a flexible airbrush paint collection.

Usage Guide

Shake or thoroughly mix the paint before use, as pigment settling during storage is normal.
For standard airbrushing, use directly from the bottle with a 0.3–0.5 mm nozzle at approximately 10 PSI or above.
Additional thinner may be added when lower viscosity is required for fine spraying or specific painting techniques.
Allow approximately 15–20 minutes for the surface to dry under normal conditions.
Full curing takes approximately 24 hours, with maximum film strength developing after around 72 hours.
For best results, use and dry the paint at 5–40°C and below 80% relative humidity.
