Kaleido ColorWorks Thinners & Cleaners are specially formulated auxiliaries designed to support the Kaleido water-based acrylic paint system, from fine-tuning paint consistency to keeping your airbrush clean and ready for the next colour.
Although Kaleido paints are factory pre-thinned and normally ready to spray directly from the bottle, Airbrush Thinner can be added when a lower viscosity is required. This can be particularly useful with smaller nozzle sizes, lower working pressures or fine-detail spraying.
Airbrush Retarder Thinner combines thinning with a slower drying action. Extending the paint’s working time can help reduce tip dry and improve paint levelling, making it useful for smooth gloss finishes, gradients and longer airbrushing sessions.
After painting, Airbrush Cleaner is designed to remove residual Kaleido paint from the airbrush’s cup, nozzle and internal paint passages. Regular cleaning helps prevent dried paint buildup, inconsistent spraying and nozzle blockages.
Available in 20 ml, 60 ml and 210 ml bottles, the range provides convenient sizes for occasional hobby use as well as regular airbrush painting.

Usage Guide
Airbrush Thinner
Kaleido paints are already pre-thinned, so additional thinner is not normally required for standard airbrushing. When further dilution is desired, Gaahleri recommends a starting ratio of approximately 5 parts paint to 1 part thinner, which can be adjusted according to the airbrush setup and painting technique.
Retarder Thinner
Use when additional working time is required or when tip dry becomes a problem. Gaahleri recommends approximately 5 parts paint to 1 part Retarder Thinner.
Airbrush Cleaner
After painting:
- Remove any remaining paint from the airbrush cup.
- Add Kaleido Airbrush Cleaner.
- Reverse-flush the airbrush to help loosen paint inside the fluid passage.
- Wipe the cup and spray cleaner through the airbrush until it runs clear.
Important Compatibility Note
When cleaning Kaleido paints, Gaahleri advises against using alcohol, isopropyl alcohol (IPA), or alcohol-based cleaning solutions. These can cause the paint to clump and may result in airbrush blockages. Use a compatible water-based airbrush cleaner instead.
